Sketchcast.com is a great new website that allows you to draw and narrate at the same time. Since writing out your thoughts can take some time when blogging, Sketchcast hopes to cut down on the amount of time it takes to convey an idea. Just narrate as you draw OR draw without narration and save it to their website. Users then have the option to embed the sketchcast in their own blog or to point other people to sketchcast on the site.

Immediately I thought about the classroom implications for this site. How easy would it be to model different types of math problems through sketchcast and post it to a blog? Teachers could create a bank of animated math examples as a resource for their class.

Art teachers would also be able to doodle as they talk during a sketchcast to explain different techniques for perspective or drawing.

Reading teachers could illustrate phonics and spelling patterns by writing out examples and marking up the words to find the phonics rules. In addition, teachers could type out a sentence, and then use Sketchcast to edit the sentences for punctuation, grammar, and mechanics.

Try it out!
